I just started listening to the new Saint Etienne album, Tales from Turnpike House . It’s a concept album about an apartment complex. I haven’t listened to it a ton yet, but superficially it seems to flow well together and capture the urban apartment complex theme. I’m liking Milk Bottle Symphony and Lightning Strikes Twice right now. Also be sure to go to their official Web site, it’s a great example of a concept-based design. First person to name what the main page mimics gets a dollar.

One of the most creative artists I have come across recently; he has a goal of writing a cd about every state in the nation. I’ve heard him classified as orchestral folk-pop, which just means catchy, folksy music that uses lots of instruments. He also has the greatest song titles of all time. You can check him out on PureVolume, but I suggest checking out the album Illinoise (It’s Illinois’s album) and especially the songs Chicago and The Man Of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts. Keep an eye on him, as he’s keepn’ it fresh. Here is his official Web site.
